    Lusting after a beautiful woman.
Setting up the murder of a good friend.
    David is confronted.
    No cover up here.

Psa 51:1 Have mercy on me according to your UNFAILING LOVE
Psa 51:7 Cleanse me and then I’ll be clean
Psa 51:10 Create in me a pure heart, O God
Psa 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken and contrite heart

Then David wrote words of praise to our God in Psalm 103 to our God WHO forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, and redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with compassion and love. Psalm 103:1-2
He doesn’t treat us as our sins deserve. Our sin is removed as far as the east is from the west. Psalm 103:10

II Samuel 8:4 tells of David’s successful exploits: 20,000 foot soldiers and 7,000 charioteers captured…I Chron 18:6 says the LORD gave David victory everywhere he went. He lay with his own wife. Victorious warrior on the outside and on the inside for his sins were covered.

Psalm 51:6 – I desire truth in my innermost parts. What was true about David, he faced and entered and remained with his LORD.

Psalm 51:7-12 are my favorite verses from that Psalm and ones I pray frequently for myself.

“Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean, wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

Like Bev, I noticed the contrast between David’s heavy heart in Psalm 51 when he was convicted of and repented of his sin to the praises he gave his Lord in Psalm 103.

    v. 2-5 “Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits–who forgives all your sincs and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

And one more verse from this day’s reading touched my heart particularly….2 Samuel 12:24b-25 “…..She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. The LORD loved him; and because the LORD loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah.”

And, in 1949 she gave birth to a daughter and named her Jean, and the LORD loved her.
